1. Last week Alum Lars P. Hansen won the Nobel Prize


Utah State University alum Lars Peter Hansen is one of three Americans named a recipient of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Economics. Hansen is internationally known for his specialization in economic dynamics, using statistical methods applied to study linkages between financial markets and the macroeconomy.

2. Aggie Men's Basketball Has 10 Games on National Television This Season

Men’s basketball will play on national television a total of 10 times, including three from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. So you can watch your beloved Aggies play no matter where you live!
 
The Aggies’ schedule includes four games on the ESPN Family of Networks and six on CBS Sports Network (CBSSN).

3. Utah State University Achieves Silver in Sustainability Assessment

Utah State University has received a silver rating in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) through the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

4. Utah State University Celebrated Old Main Society

Friends, alumni, faculty, staff and students gathered to honor the Utah State University Old Main Society. Distinguished guests were honored during the festivities, including USU alums Dell Loy and Lynnette Hansen, who received the Spirit of Old Main Award; George and Billie Emert, who received the Emeriti Award; and Douglas and Jeannie Raymond, who received the New Generation Award.

5. USU sponsoring Logan Mayoral debate

Utah State University will act as host to a debate between candidates running for Logan City Mayor on Wednesday, October 30. The debate will feature candidates Randy Watts and challenger Craig Petersen who will answer questions from a three-member panel on a variety of important topics facing Logan.
